My PhD dissertation focused on two main topics: genomic selection and quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping for Fusarium head blight (FHB) resistance in wheat. We tested how different parameters and models affected genomic prediction accuracy of FHB resistance using panel of breeding lines representing the University of Illinois’ soft red winter wheat program. We also conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) to identify QTL associated with FHB resistance. Lastly, marker-assisted selection and genomic selection were compared in a breeding context. Today I am a fresh market tomato breeder for HM.Clause in Davis-CA, working on determinate saladette and round types.
